The history of the Unicorn Estate winery

The history of the Unicorn Estate winery

Unicorn Winery is a micro-winery, created with the goal to deliver great wines with its own character and philosophy and to represent in every bottle the richness of the soil and of the local climate. Estate owns vineyards in 2 regions of Moldova. In the center of the country, 10 hectares of vineyards, where are grown especially white vines, and 5 hectares of vineyards in the south of Moldova, located in the Purcari wine region, village Olanești, on Valea Sinodrei that has a unique terroir with sandy soil rich in minerals. The “Valea Sinodrei” grape valley is well aerated by the Nistru River which slowly flows to the Black Sea. That means – the perfect soil and climate is chosen for the variety of grown grapes. Every bottle of wine is made under control of the winemaker and founder of the Unicorn Estate, Sergiu Galușca. After studying in France and working with French winemakers, he gained more knowledge, working in the most famous wine region of the US, Napa Valley. He believes that the most important part of the wine creation is the soil and vines, and he just helps to develop that treasure.
