The main thing to know about the new wines of Crama Mircești
All wines of the basic line Crama Mircești switched to a dark green scrucap. Absolutely everything and even the famous Riesling, last year's release in special bottles of a luxurious emerald color with polymer wax was the first and last in this format. If you still have such bottles, congratulations, this is already a rarity. Everything new was in the same olive-colored bottles and with a screw cap, only the Riesling, of course, in the Rhine. A new premium position in the top line Bardul din Mircești, we are talking about a red blend of Cabernet-Sauvignon (60%) and Saperavi (40%) - Cuvee Rouge 2018, aged in oak barrels for 24 months and alcohol 15%! Corresponding price - 520 lei per bottle or 25 €. They were only spilled, so we didn't taste them, we just looked and wiped off the drool. It is already on sale, but it is better to wait with it or buy it for someone as a gift. Fetească Albă - a new position from the Moldovan autochthon has appeared. It is very intense for my taste, which sets it apart from other wines from this variety.
Sauvignon Blanc is another powerful player in this position with us. Intense, with notes of lime, freshly cut grass, grapefruit and elderberry. The first issue of Sauvignon in this format from Arkady.
Riesling this time turned out to be completely different than the previous issue. It is definitely not worse, but probably not as iconic. It is not so laconic, but richer in both aromas and taste, with good acidity and a long-lasting aftertaste of ripe yellow fruits and hints of honey.
Rose is the first rose from Arkady, and this is certainly an unusual wine. This is blanc de noir, red over white or, rather, pink, a blend of their Pinot Noir, Rară Neagră and Fetească Neagră. The color is in the best tradition of Provence, a subtle blush. The aromas are a little laconic than the taste, bright barberry, red berries and grapefruit. Of the features, it will be available in Magnum format! I haven’t heard about this before, but I think it will go very much for celebrations and family events. All whites and roses have a bright minerality, the signature of the Crama Mircești terroir. The salty aftertaste enhances the brightness of other flavors in the wine and leaves a pleasant sensation in the mouth, for myself I called this White Tannins. All the aforementioned wines are aged on yeast for 4 months.
All white wines are intense in taste. When other whites of the 2020 crop that I have tried before, on the contrary, it is more concise. The latter is explained by the specifics of the 2020 crop, when, due to weather conditions, it was less than previous years, and in some places the yield fell by 50%. I asked Arkady about this, it turned out that in Crama Mircești, due to the location of the vineyards and agro-management, the yield was 100%!
Rară Neagră 2019 is an infusion of Moldovan light and transparent Pinot Noir with a cherry note. I won't tell you anymore, you have to try it yourself. Aged for 12 months in old oak barrels. I am delighted!
Blend Fetească Neagră / Saperavi 2019 - For lovers of red blends with a good body and tertiary aromas. Cherries, plums, red berries without excessive pomp, excellent aftertaste with notes of tobacco and pepper, and good potential for the future.
