For 19 years, autumn has become synonymous with millennial winemaking traditions and the National Wine Day (NWD). For 19 years, in October, the wine community of the Republic of Moldova has been meeting on the National Wine Day to celebrate our traditions in winemaking. For 19 years, the wine festival has been growing from a local holiday into an international event, which has placed our country on the world map of wine tourism.
With the “Eu deVIN sărbătoare”/ “My Wine Day” slogan, this year’s edition will be celebrated on October 3rd and 4th, 2020. In compliance with all safety measures, mostly held online, the most representative event of the country’s wine sector will review its biggest successes and the highlights of the past 19 years. This year, taking into account the new context configured by the global health crisis, the stands of the winemakers will not be installed neither in the Grand National Assembly Square (PMAN) nor on the adjacent streets, which in past years were attracting over 100 thousand visitors, including thousands of foreign tourists.
Instead, wherever you are, you can participate in this event, which belongs to all of us, and you can celebrate with millions of people the day when we will say: It’s “My Wine Day”! The slogan emphasizes the importance of this event for all of us and carries the initiative to continue celebrating the NWD safely, with family and friends.
The 19th edition of the National Wine Day is an opportunity to remeber our legends, to celebrate our successes, to know the personalities of the wine world, to reward the best in the field, to taste together a great diversity of wines that bear the imprint of the local “terroir” and to become ambassadors of the Wine of Moldova.
“My Wine Day” is, in fact, a call for solidarity with the wine
sector.In the new context, on the first weekend in October, the National Wine Day will be celebrated according to an adapted program which comprises:
• The official ceremony of the National Wine Day, including the traditional awarding of Medals of Gratitude and awards dedicated to representatives of the wine sector;
• The exhibition-retrospective that will illustrate the most important moments of the 19 years;
• An exhibition of wine bottles labels;
• Special programs and shows, dedicated to our millennial traditions in winemaking – on TV, on the radio, but also online;
• Various theme contests and competitions;
• Special programs in all the wineries of the country, which have prepared many surprises for their guests.
At the same time, the event will continue to be marked abroad as well. Well-known journalists, specialized in the wine field, will participate in an online tasting of Wine of Moldova, which will replace the traditional press visits specific to the holiday.
The National Wine Day has become over time the main national holiday dedicated to the wine heritage and Wine of Moldova, therefore, we urge you to be in solidarity on October 3rd and 4th, and together with your family and friends to taste the Wine of Moldova and proudly say: It’s “My Wine Day”!
